Species Diversity Of Sharks Landed By Artisanal Fisheries In South Of Java, Bali And Nusa Tenggara Waters

Sharks play significant role in the marine fisheries of the Indonesia Waters. A study species diversity of sharks landed by artisanal fisheries in South of Java, bali and Nusa Tenggara Waters were carried out from may to December 2000. A total of 51 species of sharks, representing 3 ordo, 9 famillies, 15 genus were recorded at the sampling area. The most common famillies recorded were the Carchahinidae which collectively contributed 80% to the total number individuals of all species. Discription detail of 51 sharks species identification and biological aspect will be discussed in this scientific paper.
